STUDENT ACTIVITIES/CLUBS 

Clubs of various types are formed when enough students indicate an interest. Such clubs include the Homework Club and the Math Club Throughout the year we offer several cultural experiences for the students.  Our teachers are qualified and dedicated.  Their concern is to provide the best education in a loving, caring, Christian environment.  Students who are involved in after school activities must report to those activities immediately at dismissal. They may not leave the campus for any reason. After school activities are not held on faculty meeting days.

ATHLETICS: Athletic Association - St. Pius X Athletic Association offers a variety of sports programs for both boys and girls. Information is sent home throughout the year. The Athletic Association sponsors a sports program in soccer, basketball, and girl’s softball.  The Physical Education Department offers cross country and track programs.

ALTAR SERVERS:  This is a volunteer program available to CATHOLIC students of our parish in grades 4-8. Children are trained by the parish priest.

BAND: Paid instrumental lessons are offered to students in grades four through eight. These students also participate in the school band. A demonstration is held in September and information is sent home for sign-up. Select members of the Band perform each year at a Band Program Festival, competing with other schools.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK:  Each year during Catholic Schools Week special activities are planned. Parents and visitors are invited to visit the school.

CHORUS: Our Music Teacher is the director of the school chorus. Students in grades four to eight audition for the chorus. This group performs several times a year for both the school and outside groups.

CLUBS: Clubs of various types are formed when enough students indicate an interest.

DRAMA: Students in middle grades audition for the annual spring musical. Two performances are given. Techniques of staging and production are taught through this activity. The Drama Department Moderator coordinates with the Art Department students for design of original scenery and props.

FIELD TRIPS: Field trips taken throughout the year are both educational and cultural. Lancaster, Pennsylvania. local farms, The Baltimore Zoo, The National Aquarium in Baltimore, Annapolis, Baltimore Museum of Art, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, The Chesapeake Bay Program  and theater performances are just a few of the places our students visit and experience.

Homework Club: Homework Club is open to students in grades 5-8. The club meets several days from 3-4 pm. A teacher serves moderator providing for students a quiet place to complete homework and is available to assist students with their assignments.

INSTRUMENTAL BAND PROGRAM: Paid instrumental lessons are offered to students in grades four to eight.  These students also participate in the school band.  A demonstration is held in September and information is sent home for sign-up.  Select members of the Band perform each year at a Band Program Festival, competing with other schools. Parents sign a contract with the company for lessons and instruments.

LITURGIES AND PARA-LITURGIES:  Students participate throughout the year in the Celebration of the Eucharist and a variety of prayer experiences. Parents are always welcomed and are invited to attend.

MATH ACADEMIC CLUB: The Math Club meets once a week to investigate topics not usually covered in class, like the binary system, factorials and expanded fractions.  Students in grades 6-8 may participate and try out for places on competing teams. A teacher serves as moderator.

SAFETY PATROL: Students volunteer to assist in making school a safe place for students. A teacher serves as moderator.

SERVICE PROJECTS: All students participate in service projects for our school and community throughout the year. Additionally, some students serve the parish regularly as altar servers.

STUDENT COUNCIL: The Student Council offers students the opportunity to see themselves grow in leadership and responsibility. They are elected representatives of our student body. They strive not only to serve the school but also the community.  A teacher serves as moderator.

YEARBOOK: Students in the Middle School may join the staff.  Students meet after school periodically to take pictures and prepare the layout for publication.  A teacher serves as moderator.

Throughout the year we offer several cultural experiences for  the students.
